American Eagle Financial Credit Union (AEFCU) employees collectively donated $5,816 to Hockanum Valley Community Council for “Jean’s Fridays.” By making a weekly donation through payroll deduction, AEFCU employees can wear jeans to work each Friday. Hockanum Valley Community Council of Vernon was selected as the charity of choice for October-December 2019 by employees on the credit union's “Eagle Team.” The Hockanum Valley Community Council provides residents of Vernon, Rockville, and nearby towns with 1,000 holiday meals, 25,000 pounds of food per month, 2,000 rides to seniors and the disabled per month, counseling to 260 patients per week, recreational programs, and educational classes on parenting, wellness, nutrition, and more.

“HVCC is grateful to the employees of American Eagle for their generous donation. This money will go a long way to help our professional staff and dedicated volunteers address the needs of over 1,000 individuals,” said O’Rourke. “We feed families, transport seniors to medical appointments, and provide quality mental health and addiction treatment that makes a difference in people’s lives,” added O’Rourke.
