Charter Oak Federal Credit Union

Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has awarded an additional $15,000 to Mystic Aquarium as part of the credit union’s continuing support of their Frogs! exhibit.

The credit union first announced its partnership with Mystic Aquarium in 2016 during the grand opening celebration of its Mystic Branch, where Brian A. Orenstein, Charter Oak’s President and Chief Executive Officer presented the aquarium with a $15,000 donation in support of their mission to care for and protect our ocean planet through conservation, education and research. In addition, a portion of the donation went towards the Frogs! exhibit.

In May, the aquarium opened its second brand-new exhibit in two years, Weird & Wonderful, and is showcasing some of nature’s most bizarre and fascinating creatures.

Charter Oak invests in its members and the communities it serves through its Community Giving Program. Most recently, the credit union awarded $90,000 in college scholarships to college-bound members. Education has been a significant focus for the credit union’s Community Giving Committee, and it has reinforced this focus by donating to programs that encourage creativity in today’s youth as well as programs that provide job training for under and unemployed people within New London and Windham counties.
