Credit Union Awards $1,000 Scholarship to Goodwin College Student
Sothea Baig of Manchester, Connecticut, is the 2019 recipient of the American Eagle Financial Credit Union Scholarship at Goodwin College.
Sothea will graduate from Goodwin College in June with her Associate Degree in Business Administration. She accomplished this while working full-time in various jobs to support herself. She plans to continue at Goodwin College to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. “I selected Goodwin because it was flexible, convenient, and close to home. There is a lot of support for students and the professors are very helpful,” said Sothea.
Sothea is a native of Cambodia and mother of three children. Her ultimate goal is to secure a meaningful full-time job in financial services that will allow her to support herself and experience a better life. “Receiving this scholarship means a lot to me. It proves that through hard work and motivation anything is possible,” said Sothea.
American Eagle Financial Credit Union awards an annual scholarship to a Goodwin College student enrolled in their Business Administration Program, who has completed at least 12 credits, maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0, and demonstrated a financial need. “The American Eagle Financial Credit Union scholarship at Goodwin College is our way of investing in the next generation of talent,” said Dean Marchessault, President and Chief Executive Officer at American Eagle Financial Credit Union. “We are very impressed by Sothea’s work at Goodwin College and I am honored to present her as our 2019 business scholarship winner,” added Marchessault.
