Credit Union Announces Annual Scholarship Awards
UBI Federal Credit Union is proud to continue its long-standing commitment to supporting education through its annual scholarship program. This year, UBI once again awarded two $1,000 scholarships to deserving students pursuing higher education through the Peter F. Smith Scholarship and the Kathy Brown Scholarship.
The Peter F. Smith Scholarship recognizes the importance of educational opportunity and encourages students to continue working toward their academic and career goals. New this year, the Kathy Brown Scholarship was created in memory of longtime UBI team member Kathy Brown, who passed away in 2025. Kathy dedicated many years of service to UBI and was deeply committed to helping members, families, and students in the community.
“Education has always been an important part of UBI’s mission,” said Ed Bohnwagner, President/CEO of UBI Federal Credit Union. “Through these scholarships, we are honored to invest in students as they take the next step toward their future while also recognizing the lasting impact Kathy Brown had on our organization and community.”
Cecelia Gash, of North Haven won the Peter F. Smith Scholarship and Rocco Paolino, of Bristol won the Kathy Brown Scholarship. UBI Federal Credit Union has a long history of assisting students through financial education programs, community partnerships, and scholarship opportunities. The annual scholarships reflect the credit union’s ongoing dedication to helping young people achieve success both in and out of the classroom.
